When Others Around You Win

When others around you win, you win. When you're on the same team, personal goals are important, but so are the goals of people around you. There's a classic saying, "a rising tide raises all ships." If you find yourself in a fog unsure of your next move, sales call, partnership, etc. look no further than the people sitting near your desk. Maybe you can make an introduction, recommendation, open a door. Your goal shouldn't be to be the only one standing at the finish line, but share your victorious among friends.

The funny thing about helping other people around you win, is they will also be happy to reciprocate your generosity. When others around you win, you win.

If Every Day Were New Years

What would the world look like? Would we be smarter, more fit, more kind? Why wait for New Years to make half-hearted resolutions to yourself? Every day is a gift. If every day were New Years, how many more projects would you start, how many friends would you call? Despite white noise and advertisements, why do we need a holidays to decide to be better?

Every day is a new year, even if the calendar doesn't change the numbers at the end of the date; the numbers in the middle change daily. I'm not waiting for a calendar to learn something new, make new friends, etc. Every day is a gift. Every day is a New Year. Now that's something to celebrate.
