5 Ways to Increase Creativity

Here are five ways that I find help increase my creativity.

1.) Take a walk

I'm always amazed that no matter how many times I make the same walk down the street or on a favorite trail, I always notice something different.  Also, taking a walk is a wonderful form of exercise for your body.

2.) Exposure to different kinds of people and information

Meeting new people or picking up a book on a subject you know nothing about can be intimidating, but the long term benefits will open your eyes to new ways of thinking.

3.) Art

Art is an expression.  It is a medium in which we communicate thoughts and ideas.  Taking a stroll inside the local art museum, or listening to music is a direct channel inside the mind of other artists.  Viewing, engaging, and creating art will boost creativity and inspire new ideas.

4.) Read

Reading is a test of our imagination.  The better your imagination, the more enjoyable the book (especially with fiction).

5.) Meditate

Taking a few minutes to "calm the mind" can actually increase creative thoughts.  If you've ever been surprised that you come up with great ideas in the shower, or late at night, it's because your mind is not thinking about other things.  It is simply, present, allowing you to focus more of your creative power on your most important thoughts and ideas.
